The praise from Beijing was generous. President Xi Jinping said Henry Kissinger is China’s “old friend. Vladimir Putin called Kissinger a “wise and far-sighted statesman. Israeli President Isaac Herzog praised Kissinger for “laying the cornerstone of the peace agreement with Egypt, as well as many other processes globally that I admire.
The White House’s reaction to Kissinger’s death on Wednesday, however, was less emotional.
